“Furnace” was and still is the painting that took the longest to complete. I tried a new technique and it was far from perfected at the time. I wanted to only use 2 colors (or really one – darker and lighter) to show Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego engulfed in the flames of the furnace described in the third chapter of Daniel. You can find them in the painting along with a fourth. Imagine being there and seeing another figure in a fire 7 times more intense than usual protecting the 3 men!
