Most Olympic athletes devote their entire lives to reach the athletic abilities to compete and win in their respective events. Truly, the number one priority in their lives is their training and competition. Liddell put God first in his life. Instead of running his best event, he trained for the 400 meter race instead. At the starting blocks, a member of the American Olympic staff handed Liddell a piece of paper with 1 Samuel 2:30 written on it. He won the race and set a new world record.
