Remember

The painting portrays 3 images of the Alamo. In front, the Alamo is displayed as it looked around the time of the battle – referenced by an antique daguerreotype of the building in 1849. The middle layer shows the Alamo as we know it today with it’s iconic façade. It’s splattered with the blood of fallen men (turned brown with time). Also included in this layer is the portrayal of 4 key men who died defending the Alamo -Bowie, Travis, Crockett, and Bonham. This piece is called “Remember” not only as part of that ralling war cry, but also as the original intention for the mission (both structure and purpose) we call the Alamo today. The back layer depicts the bell towers representing this and mixed into the base layer of paint is a small amount of Texas Dirt that will always be part of the painting itself.
