Promise

In Genesis chapter 9, God promises not to flood the earth completely again and chose a rainbow for us to know as proof of His promise. Even today, we see rainbows when the moisture in the air and the direction of the sunlight is just perfect – something on God can do at such a large scale. This promise allows all of mankind to know that our mortal lives are safe from death by flood.

During Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of Christ Jesus, and this painting is meant to portray Jesus smiling. A common ritual is for parents to hide colorful eggs in the grass for children to find. Easter eggs don’t have Biblical symbolism, so this painting represents Salvation through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, death, and resurrection. It does display Jesus’ face as a rainbow of pastel colors over a field of blue and green.

Accepting the Salvation of Christ Jesus is a promise from God so we know that our eternal souls are safe from the damnation of Hell. A promise that means we will spend eternity in the presence of God instead of always being separated from Him.
