A purely conceptual piece, this painting depicts Jesus as the chain-breaker. Originally, it was to be painted in progressions that set the painting’s symbolism up. Two outstretched hands free from bondage would progress to hands in shackles. These shackles would be chained together, and after, a hand with palm facing up would appear. Then a nail would appear penetrating the hand until it shattered the now existing chain, breaking it and freeing the hands. The 2 hands represent ours as sinners, the chains represents our sins, the open hand represents Jesus, and the nail represents His sacrifice.
