The first painting of 2012 depicts the account of Elijah challenging the 450 followers of baal from 1 Kings chapter 18. Elijah and fire from heaven seem to collide quite regularly. I wanted to emphasize just Elijah and the fire, but the challenge was not to make it look like Elijah was on fire. I originally wanted to show the water drenched, mutilated bull on the 12 stones, but I am pleased with the simplicity of the painting in its finished form.
