“Listen” depicts the moment when Peter draws his sword on the soldiers seeking to arrest Jesus from John 18. I shaded the background first to emphasize the face and the sword. The most important part of this piece, however, is Jesus’ reflection in Peter’s sword. So many times in my life, I acted rashly and regretted it. And the most humbling thing about the whole experience was when I realized that I knew better. This painting serves as a reminder for me to listen and follow God’s direction.
