“Sonrise” is a very simple idea, but the imagery of this painting is immensely powerful to me personally. A ripped cloth remains nailed to the cross. The scene is designed to be set on the third morning sunrise behind the cross. The title is a play on words as God’s Son, Jesus Christ rose that day as well. The lighting was very difficult for me to paint and this painting was one that I had to continually repaint to get the look I wanted.
