This painting is meant to be displayed in a position where you can view it’s reflection in a mirror (preferably while looking at yourself with the painting in the background). Once the painting is viewed in the mirror, the verses become legible. This piece is the only one of my paintings that features the mirrored text technique, and its effect is meant to limit the painting’s viewing to one person at a time. This represents the individual, personal relationship Christians have with God. The subject holding the sword is a silhouette and can be interpreted as both facing forward or backward. The differentiating factor comes from the flower design background (yes, it’s a close up of a flower). The design also contains 2 integrated arrows that point towards the subject’s heart. One arrow curves in from her head and the other up from her body. This symbolizes the devotion that a Christian has to the Lord as a new creation in Christ.
